Dasatinib is a (second-generation) tyrosine kinase inhibitor approved to treat certain leukemias, in particular chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL), in which it blocks the BCR-ABL protein and other kinases that drive the proliferation of cancer cells. It is a prescription drug administered under hematological supervision.
Outside its oncological indication, dasatinib has become known in the longevity field as part of the senolytic combination dasatinib + quercetin (D+Q). In this strategy it is administered intermittently (not continuously) with the intention of eliminating senescent cells by pushing them into apoptosis. In animal models D+Q has shown promising signals and small clinical trials are underway, but its senolytic use is experimental and not approved.
Safety: as an antineoplastic, dasatinib has relevant adverse effects (fluid retention and pleural effusion, myelosuppression, blood disorders, cardiovascular risk, and numerous drug interactions). It should not be used on one's own or for anti-aging purposes outside a clinical trial or without a clear indication and strict medical supervision.
Information, not medical advice. This drug requires a prescription and medical supervision.
