Effect by goal · level of evidence

Melatonin and cortisol (older monkeys)

improves Low-moderate preclinical (A)
Improves melatonin

In aged rhesus monkeys, epitalon stimulated nighttime melatonin production and normalized the daily cortisol rhythm. This is an animal study: not demonstrated in people.

Retinitis pigmentosa

improves Low study (AA)
Visual improvement (observational)

In rats with retinal degeneration it preserved the structure and function of the retina. The authors (patent holders) describe a positive clinical effect in 90% of patients with degenerative retinal lesions, without a control group or randomization.

Longevity

association Low observational (A)
Association, not causation

Follow-up of 266 older people for 6-8 years treated with epithalamin and thymalin (extracts from which epitalon is derived): the authors describe fewer respiratory infections and lower mortality. Non-randomized study by the research group itself, not replicated.
