Detoxification

⏱ 2 min read

Detoxification is the set of processes by which the body transforms and eliminates potentially harmful substances—drugs, pollutants, products of its own metabolism—. It occurs mainly in the liver, in two enzymatic phases (activation by cytochrome P450 and conjugation) followed by excretion in bile, urine, or stool. Glutathione and good liver and kidney function are key pieces.

It is not a one-time "cleanse" or something a miracle product activates: it is a permanent system. On this map it connects with xenobiotics (the substances that must be processed), with the liver and kidney, and with goals where toxic load and oxidative stress matter. Interventions such as cruciferous vegetables, certain nutrients, or avoiding an overload of alcohol and toxins act on these pathways.
