Xenobiotics

⏱ 2 min read

Xenobiotics are substances foreign to the body: drugs, additives, environmental pollutants, pesticides, or compounds in smoke. The body cannot store them, so it transforms and eliminates them through the detoxification system, mainly in the liver, via cytochrome P450 enzymes and conjugation reactions.

On this map they connect with detoxification, the liver, and oxidative stress, and with goals where environmental toxic load influences health. Reducing unnecessary exposure and supporting elimination pathways (cruciferous vegetables, good liver and kidney function, avoiding excess alcohol) helps manage this load.
